How to find your water supplier

In London, consumers cannot choose who their water supplier will be (unlike other services, such as electricity, or Internet).

Water meter

  • If you have a meter: after your inventory and check-in report have been completed and meters have been read, you can set up your account with the provider.
  • If you do not have a water meter: this is common, so don’t worry. You can still set up an account and invoicing will done on the basis of estimated usage by the provider.

How to register with your water supplier

The most frequent supplier in London is Thames Water: https://myaccount.thameswater.co.uk/my-account/moving-home/tell-us-your-moving/moving-home-form

To register with a water provider, you will require the following information:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your marital status
  • Your date of birth
  • Your address in London
  • Your UK bank details in order to set up a monthly direct debit, if this is your preferred method of payment
  • Your move-in date

You can register online, on the provider’s website, or by calling them.

Thames Water will let you register with them 27 days before your move. For other suppliers, please check their website for details of how to register with them.
