St John’s Wood is a Prime Market family area located in the North of London, just above Regent’s Park, along the Jubilee Line.  If you are a fan of the Rolling Stones, it has been quoted in 1965 in the Lyrics of the song “play with fire”.

“Your mother, she’s an heiress, owns a block in St John’s Wood […] but don’t play with me, ’cause you’re playing with fire.”

We could say that the area is on the posh side, but without the “bling” side that you could find in Mayfair or Knightsbridge.

It is a quiet area, but on the doorstep of the hustle and bustle of Marylebone and the West End.

On the West side of Wellington Road stands the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground, a mythical place for all cricket lovers, as well as Abbey Road, made famous by the eponymous Beatles album in 1969.

On the right side of Wellington Road, nestled between Regent’s Park and Primrose Hill, sits the heart of the St John’s Wood, the High Street with lots of fashionable shops, but still with a village feel. For the “Yummy Mummies”, Comptoir des Cotonniers, the Kooples or Joseph.

For the children, Gap Kids and Igloo.

On the gastronomy side, nice bistros such as Richoux or the Café Rouge chain and a special mention for the excellent French restaurant L’Aventure, located 3 Blenheim Terrace.

Also good to know, the historic grocery store, which has opened 50 years ago, Panzer’s Delicatessen, specializing in American products.

Architecturally, there are few built-in “Terraces” (rows of terraced houses) but ” white stucco villas”, which reinforces its majestic side.
