Additional information

If you are moving to London, and the urban side of the British capital scares you ever so slightly, then Richmond-upon-Thames might be the area for you.

Located in South-West London, Richmond town lies between a huge park and the Thames river. Its public transport connections are ideal, with a mix of underground (District line) and overground (23 minutes to London Waterloo).

Beautiful Richmond Hill provides amazing views over the river, and unlimited outdoors activities possibilities for children and adults alike: bicycle rides in Richmond Park, boat trips on the Thames, as well as rugby games in the neighbouring (almost world-famous) Twickenham stadium. In addition to these activities, Richmond also offers an amazing cultural programme, with 3 cinemas and two theatres (Richmond Theatre & The Orange Tree) .

Shopping-wise, Richmond offers all the high street brands you can wish for, including a House of Fraser department store, and the world-famous Topshop brand. Sainsbury’s and Waitrose supermarkets can also be found, as well as a Farmer’s Market, every Saturday between 11am and 3pm. Restaurants and cafes you will find plenty too.

But besides the amenities we have described above, it really is the Schools landscape that attracts families over there. Richmond is one of the only London areas offering an excellent choice of state primary schools, including the sought-after Vineyard Primary School, as well as two Grammar Schools.

We can definitely say that Richmond is not far from being paradise on London-earth…
